HGV Class 1 FAQs

Good to know.

How quickly can you supply HGV Class 1 drivers?

In as little as 24 to 72 hours for most roles. For same-day or next-day cover, send a late-notice request and we will get straight on it.

What licence does an HGV Class 1 driver need?

A full Category C+E licence, a Driver CPC qualification card and a digital tachograph card. We check all three, plus a DVLA licence check, before a driver starts.

What is the difference between HGV Class 1 and Class 2?

Class 1 (C+E) drivers can drive articulated lorries, a tractor unit pulling a trailer. Class 2 (C) drivers drive rigid lorries over 7.5 tonnes. A Class 1 licence also covers Class 2 vehicles.

Do you supply Class 1 drivers for nights, weekends and peak periods?

Yes. We recruit for day, night and weekend shifts and can help you cover seasonal peaks, holidays and sickness.

Do you recruit newly qualified Class 1 drivers?

Yes. Some clients take new passes, and we match them with roles where they will get the right support.

Can a temporary Class 1 driver become permanent?

Yes. With temp to perm you can bring a driver onto your books when you are ready, and we match your pay rate so they move across with no loss of earnings.
